Looking at Spirit

This meditation is an important step to increasing our connection with Spirit. It is based on the seven main chakras. Since they are our connection to Spirit, we can look though them to gain a new perspective of Spirit. For this meditation, it is good to know the approximate location, and color for each chakra. It is also valuable to use music or the keynote associated with each chakra. All of this can be done by using Steven Halpern's Spectrum Suite, see the important note at the bottom of Balancing the Chakras.

We recommend that you have a pen and paper handy to write down any impressions that come to mind. It is good to repeat this meditation and by writing down your impressions, you can build on them. This can be very powerful.

Mediation

For each step, take the time to really focus and check all of your inner senses. This can take about 4 to 5 minutes. Spectrum Suite not only assists in this process, but also helps with the timing, as the track for each chakra is about 3 or 4 minutes long.

1. Allow your awareness to move all the way down to the first chakra (at the base of the spine). Feel, sense the energy and as you bring your awareness to this area, the energy seems to increase. You may see or mentally visualize the color red at the inner levels. Now imagine yourself looking through this chakra to see and experience Spirit. Check all of your inner senses as you connect from this perspective and write down and/or sketch anything that comes to mind.

2. Now allow your awareness to move up to the second chakra (in the pelvic area) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color orange at the inner levels. Now imagine yourself looking through this chakra to see and experience Spirit. Check all of your inner senses and write down anything.

3. Move your awareness to the solar plexus and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color yellow at the inner levels. Now imagine yourself looking through this chakra to see and experience Spirit. (Check all of your inner senses and write down anything.)

4. Move your awareness to the fourth chakra (the heart) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color green at the inner levels. Now imagine yourself looking through this chakra to see and experience Spirit. (Check all of your inner senses and write down anything.)

5. Move your awareness to the fifth chakra (the throat) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color blue at the inner levels. Now imagine yourself looking through this chakra to see and experience Spirit. (Check all of your inner senses and write down anything.)

6. Move your awareness to the sixth chakra (the third eye) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color indigo (a deep purplish blue) at the inner levels. Now imagine yourself looking through this chakra to see and experience Spirit. (Check all of your inner senses and write down anything.)

7. Move your awareness to the seventh chakra (the crown of the head) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color violet at the inner levels. Now imagine yourself looking through this chakra to see and experience Spirit. (Check all of your inner senses and write down anything.)

When you have finished, say "thank you," develop an attitude of gratitude, and/or say a prayer and just open your eyes.

As you repeat this meditation, and if you record your impressions, you can build your picture of Spirit or Source. Repeating the meditation using these impressions can deepen and expand your contact and concept of the Divine.
