Balancing the Chakras
Since balancing the chakras has long been recognized as valuable, there are a number of methods for doing this. Our recommendation is to meditate using Spectrum Suite.* Spectrum Suite not only assists in this process, but also helps with the timing, as the track for each chakra is about 3 or 4 minutes long. Mediation
For each step, take the time to really focus and check all of your inner senses. Take at least 4 to 5 minutes for each chakra. Since chakras are seen as spinning wheels, you may sense this motion or wish to visualize it. Some sources say that all the chakras spin clockwise while others say that they alternate and even that the order of the spin direction alternates for men and women. If you choose to visualize the spinning, we recommend that you use your intuition to pick the direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) that is best for you.
Close your eyes, take three deep slow breaths and go to your ideal place of relaxation.
1. Allow your awareness to move all the way down to the first chakra (at the base of the spine). Feel, sense the energy and as you bring your awareness to this area, the energy seems to increase. You may see or mentally visualize the color red at the inner levels.
2. Allow your awareness to move up to the second chakra (in the pelvic area) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color orange at the inner levels.
3. Move your awareness to the third chakra (the solar plexus) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color yellow at the inner levels.
4. Move your awareness to the fourth chakra (the heart) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color green at the inner levels.
5. Move your awareness to the fifth chakra (the throat) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color blue at the inner levels.
6. Move your awareness to the sixth chakra (the third eye) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color indigo (a deep purplish blue) at the inner levels.
7. Move your awareness to the seventh chakra (the crown of the head) and feel, sense the energy. You may see or mentally visualize the color violet at the inner levels.
When you have finished, say thank you, develop an attitude of gratitude, and/or say a prayer and just open your eyes.
* Important Note: Spectrum Suite is on Steven Halpern's CD Chakra Suite which is available by download or CD from innerpeacemusic.com. Also available (for free) is a pdf file of the cover of the CD. This cover shows the location of the seven chakras, their color, and their keynote. Using the music and the CD cover are highly recommended for this meditation. They are also very valuable for other meditations in this workshop. The music can also be used by itself because just listening to Spectrum Suite balances the chakras. You do not have to do anything else. Listening while meditating enhances the effect and adds to both balancing and the purpose of the meditation. This can be very powerful. If you lose consciousness or fall asleep while listening, the balancing continues. For this reason, it is valuable to use Spectrum Suite while falling asleep at night.
Steven's original composition is Spectrum Suite and was composed/recorded in 1975 using a Rhodes electric piano (a healing instrument designed by Harold Rhodes). Chakra Suite is essentially the same but adds other instruments and better recording techniques. For simplicity, we have chosen to use the title Spectrum Suite in this workshop. We have used Spectrum for years ourselves and with groups of people with very positive results. However, please remember that Chakra Suite can be used interchangeably. We recommend that you use your intuition to decide which is best for you.
