Go Deeper

The comedian Tim Conway died a year ago. Not long before his death, he mentioned in an interview that he had been giving a lot of thought to the “Here After.” For example, he said that he would go into the Kitchen and think, “Now what is it that I am here after?

Like Tim, I too am finding that I will go into another room with a clear intent to get something only to get there and find that the thought has vaporized. I am amazed that there seems to be a totally blank space in my mind. I don’t have a clue. Lately I just give up and go back to the room where I first had the thought. Then it usually returns.

What comes into my life, into my awareness is important. That is because it is not random. Sometimes I miss the pattern, but when I do figure it out, the results can be very powerful. And sometimes valuable for others. Today’s talk is about what has been coming into my life.

I was scheduled to talk at our service on March 29, but realized that I couldn’t do it. I was going through some pain and more importantly, seemed to have lost my way. Fortunately, Sherry Schultz was able to step in. Eventually I found my way and was no longer lost. Here is how I found my way:

Decades ago, Carole Glenn introduced me to a healer, Dr. MacKimmie. Dr. MacKimme said, “There is a Spiritual Lesson in every disease.” So when I am sick or in pain, I search for a Spiritual Lesson. Sometimes I find it, and sometimes I don’t. I like to find and remember it, so I don’t have to go through the pain again. In March had two areas where I was experiencing pain. One day in meditation, I heard that I was “underestimating the power of Ego Mind.” The next day in meditation I heard that I was “underestimating the power of the Holy Spirit.” Once I heard these lessons, both pains subsided and in a few days, went away. I no longer felt lost. Now when I meditate, I remember those two lessons.

My last talk, in December, was about my Next Adventure. That adventure is seeking Enlightenment. Since then, I have had a Vision that I want to share. It is a Vision of a record with a column of Light. The record is like one of the large records that we played on a phonograph and later a turntable. It is a large flat disk with a hole in the center. Coming up from the hole is a column of bright light. My interpretation of the Vision is that the large record is Life. We go back and forth on it, perhaps from one life to another, but we are always on the record going ‘round and ‘round. The Tibetan Buddhists call this “the wheel of life.” The column of light is the pathway to escaping. This Vision has been a powerful reminder for me. Much of what I experience, much of what I am focused on, is part of the black disk.
But my goal is to find the column of Light and follow it upward. Instead of being caught in the Illusion, I need to move to up the column of Light. Sometimes when I am caught up in worry or fear, I remember that this is part of the record, and is not really important.

What is my mission? What is my purpose here on Earth? Or in the words of Tim Conway, “Now what is it that I am here after?” This Vision helps me remember. I am here to escape the Illusion.

The Palm Reader

While attending the Whole Life Expo in San Francisco, I felt drawn to go to a talk by a palm reader. I thought, “This is really strange. I don’t believe in palm readings, so why am I called to hear this talk?” At the Whole Life Expo, there were a number of talks given at the same time. Also a large number of interesting booths. So there were lots of other things to see and do. However, nothing else called to me at that particular time, so I finally gave up and went to the talk.

I really don’t remember much about the man or his talk, except for one thing that he said. “In you palm is your greatest opportunity and your greatest challenge. The opportunity lies just on the other side of your challenge and before anyone asks, no, you cannot go around.”

I never did have him read my palm, but this one teaching has been a great blessing. I have always found an opportunity on the other side of a challenge. Sometimes it takes a while to find it, but it has always been there for me. In some instances, that opportunity has completely changed my life for the better. When I recognize a challenge in my life, I am reminded of his statement. I realize that I have a choice: to go through the challenge, meet it head on, or avoid it.

Pandemic

The Current Pandemic has both challenges and opportunities. Often the challenge is getting through Fear. In my talk titled “Meeting Adversity in Spiritual Ways,” I included using the Violet Flame of St. Germaine, to dissolve any fear. This is my method of choice but it is important that you find what works for you.

Of course, a lot of focus has been on the Pandemic. What I would like to point out is that the Pandemic is about the World, about the external. However, it has been said that we have everything that we need. To me, this is about the internal. And I don’t feel that the Pandemic has affected the internal.

Recently in meditation I heard two words: Go Deeper. When I went deeper, I was immediately aware of a change. This was so powerful that I chose Go Deeper for the title of this talk. From time to time I remember to Go Deeper and it makes a difference.

“Deep Work” is a Business book that has won numerous awards. In a summary of the book, the following caught my eye: Deep Work will make you better at what you do ... In short, deep work is like a super power in our increasingly competitive twenty-first century economy. And yet, most people have lost the ability to go deep - spending their days instead in a frantic blur of e-mail and social media, …” One recommendation of the author is to Quit Social Media.

Here is a pattern for me: The Pandemic has eliminated many distractions so I can Go Deeper. One distraction that it has not eliminated is Social Media. To Go Deeper, I am called to limit Social Media. Now don’t turn off your devices right now! I have not turned off mine either. But I do pay attention to how much time I spend on devices and how my time is spent. I can Go Deeper in my daily meditation because I do it first thing in the morning before any Social Media. And the first thing I do in my morning meditation is to imagine the Violet Flame of St. Germaine to dissolve any fear.

I mentioned one concept that everything we need is inside. Here is a rock that I keep on my altar. “This rock represents what is hidden in me. It is what I have that I don't know … I have concluded that this is only a very small representation of the unknown within.” (for more information see, Steal this Rock)

We are not here alone. In a time when we are staying home, it is good to remember that we are surrounded by guides, ancestors, etc. Yesterday, I was walking back from the Vortex/Stargate and it was raining slightly. But I in my head I heard “Run!” I wasn’t sure that I heard it, but I decided to run anyway and just as I reached our house, the skies opened up. A reminder that I am getting help.

So what do I think is important in this talk? Three methods that are helping me find opportunity during this Pandemic.

1. A method to get past Fear. For me that is the Violet Flame of St. Germaine.

2. A Vision – to remind me what I am here after.

3. Go Deeper

This may seem simple, but as the song says, T’is a gift to be Simple. Some say that we are not discovering things, we already know them. So we are called to remember. Let us remember, “What am I Here after?” After the meditation, our last song will be “Let me Remember.”

As a Mystic, the most important part of our service is the Meditation.

Meditation

A meditation to help smooth out energy and go deeper. To help us move to a place of connection, I encourage you to place your hand on your heart. We are all connected and can hold an intention of reaching the Highest Good.

Take a deep breath and feel yourself relaxing. Take a second deep breath and feel yourself relaxing more. Then take a third deep breath and, letting it out at your own time and pace, relax even more.

The sound of the didgeridoo can smooth out energy, especially if we hold the intention of smoothing out our energy.

Take a deep breath and as you exhale, Go Deeper.

Relax into the silence.

Develop an attitude of gratitude, say a prayer, whatever way feels right to express your appreciation.

When you are ready, just open your eyes.
